Scarlet Mayer-Payne (b.1999, Preston) is an abstract painter and freelance community artist who currently lives and works in Manchester. She studied Fine Art at Aberystwyth University, graduating with First Class honours in 2021.
Her work focuses on the gestural and the geometric; with an explorative and contemplative approach to painting, she hopes to create a space where these two concepts can co-exist. Her paintings are created over multiple sittings, built up layer by layer; she adds and removes paint in response to each previous mark made.
Bold, bright and powerful – Mayer-Payne’s paintings often stems from personal experience but due to the abstract nature of her work, the viewer is encouraged to acknowledge and contemplate their own emotional response.
