`My practice explores the boundaries of Human survival, how we traverse matters from depression, anxiety, and other vulnerabilities such as loneliness, memory loss and dementia. Harvesting inspiration from my own proletariat existence, I seek to investigate how we, the underclass, persevere whilst barely existing in a culture that is geared to overwhelm and ebb away at our standard of living. How we turn tragedy into triumph through comedy, and how surrealism is fundamental to escapism when considering life’s pitfalls.
Using techniques inherent in the history of portraiture, and encompassing modern practices such as projection, sound, and poetry it is my intention to open up a dialogue between artist and viewer that both provokes and soothes.
